An archived briefing dated 9 June 2026, reviewed on 27 October 2026: documented security concerns, Erbil–Baghdad relations, customs administration, Kirkuk labour protection and cross-border dialogue. It is not a live news feed.

Security: what the dated statement establishes
A KRG Department of Foreign Relations account published on 18 May describes Safeen Dizayee’s meeting with European representatives on 17 May 2026. It records his concern over drone and missile attacks and his statement that the Kurdistan Region was not a party to regional conflicts. [1] This establishes an official position before this briefing’s archive date. It does not verify a particular June interception, identify an attacker or establish that there were no casualties. Those require incident-specific evidence.
The 3 June visit to Baghdad
The KRG’s representation in Austria reported Masrour Barzani’s visit to Baghdad on 3 June 2026. Its account describes talks with federal Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, constitutional principles and cooperation to resolve differences. [2] A meeting and a stated commitment to dialogue are meaningful diplomatic events, but neither establishes that salary transfers, oil arrangements or revenue disputes were settled. The source records the KRG’s presentation of the visit; it is not a jointly audited account of implementation.
Salaries and the federal parliamentary resolution
On 18 March 2026, Iraq’s Council of Representatives published a resolution requiring equal treatment in payment of Kurdistan Region employees, implementation of ASYCUDA throughout Iraq, including the Region, and an oil-and-gas bill in the next government programme. It also called for rehabilitation of the Kirkuk–Ceyhan pipeline route. [3] These are recorded parliamentary demands. A resolution alone does not show that a particular employee received a salary or that a pipeline was operating on 9 June.
What ASYCUDA actually does
UN Trade and Development explains ASYCUDAWorld as a system for moving customs declarations and clearance from manual paperwork into digital procedures. Its July 2024 account describes the Baghdad airport pilot and rollout to major customs offices. [4] The software concerns declarations, processing and revenue administration; it cannot by itself settle the political allocation of authority or revenue between Baghdad and Erbil. Its earlier deployment history should also be distinguished from any claim that every regional crossing had completed implementation by this archive date.
Kirkuk: documented problems in labour protection
An ILO account dated 26 January 2026, posted by UN Iraq on 5 February, describes discussions with Kirkuk oil-and-gas workers. It identifies informal employment, missing formal contracts, occupational-safety concerns and limited awareness of registration and grievance procedures. [5] These are concrete labour-protection issues. They do not establish the original roundup’s claim that thousands of government vacancies were suspended, nor an ethnic breakdown of affected applicants. Public hiring, private-sector employment and social-security coverage are different measures.
Cross-border dialogue in Van
Erbil Governorate’s 9 June report records Omed Khoshnaw and Soran administration supervisor Halgurd Sheikh Najib visiting the DEM Party headquarters in Van on 8 June 2026. It describes discussion of social and economic exchange and the governor’s support for peaceful dialogue in Turkey. [6] This offers a dated example of regional contact. It does not establish a completed peace agreement or the legal status of disarmament. The six linked records support this narrower briefing; developments after 9 June belong to later reporting.
