About this map editor
This archived interactive feature is an editable map centred on Iran. It starts with no event markers. It does not provide a verified live news feed; the marker categories and zone colours are tools for organising your own notes.
Add markers and zones
Open Add Marker and click the map to fill the coordinates. Enter a title and any details, choose a type and colour, and add a date only if you have one. Select Place Marker to add the note. Use My markers to revisit it, or click a marker to view or remove it.
To draw a shaded area, choose a zone button, click at least three points and double-click to finish. Drag the map to pan and use the zoom controls, scroll or pinch to change the view. A zone label is an annotation chosen by the user, not confirmation of territorial control.
Keep a copy
Export JSON downloads the marker records; it does not include drawn zones. Clear All Markers removes markers, while zones have their own removal control. Edits stay in the current page session, so export marker notes before leaving. The map requires JavaScript.
