Profile
About
Jamal is a Kurdish writer and commentator originally from Tehran, Iran. Now based in Erbil, Kurdistan, he is a graduate of the University of Tehran, where he studied History and Journalism. His academic background has shaped his analytical approach to regional politics, identity, and historical narratives, giving depth and context to his work.
Growing up as a Kurd in Iran during the 1980s and early 1990s, Jamal experienced discrimination and marginalization firsthand. Those formative years left a lasting impression on him and played a significant role in shaping his worldview. In the early 1990s, his family relocated permanently to Erbil in search of safety, dignity, and a future free from the hostility and racism they had endured. The move marked a turning point in his life, strengthening his connection to his Kurdish heritage and community.
Today, Jamal uses his voice and platform to shed light on issues affecting Kurds and the broader region. He writes extensively about Iran, Kurdish affairs, and regional political developments, offering commentary on current events, emerging trends, and the historical forces that continue to shape relations between different communities. Through his work, he seeks to inform, document, and amplify perspectives that he believes are often overlooked or misrepresented.
With a foundation in both history and journalism, Jamal combines research-driven insight with compelling storytelling, striving to contribute thoughtfully to discussions about identity, justice, and the future of the Middle East. Jamal will be covering the Iran war very closely with daily updates to keep you informed.
