Since the British and French established the artificial borders in the Middle East after World War I, Kurdish foods have often been mislabeled. Historically and culturally, many foods associated with Turkish, Iraqi, Syrian, and Iranian cuisines are actually Kurdish. The Kurdish people have a continuous history that stretches back 3,000 years, predating Persians, Turks, and Arabs. However, our history and culture have been overshadowed due to these artificial borders. We are now reclaiming what is rightfully ours. This article points out 10 foods labelled as Turkish, which are historically and culturally Kurdish.
